Additional Miscellaneous Fees
Court costs, postage, etc. will only cost you whatever they cost our professionals. The cost of faxing your documents depends on whether you are sending the fax long distance or locally. When e-mailing or faxing documents to you, they also consider the number of pages you are scanning or faxing. The more pages they scan or fax to you, the more they must charge.
The court clerks only charge them a nominal amount for non-certified and certified copies of documents. Faxing and postage fees will vary, depending on where you live and how soon you want them to fax or mail you the item(s).
The Following Fees Are Added in Addition to The Standard Fees:
Many of the charges you will see below are geared more toward individuals who are very hard to find, are trying to avoid service, as well as those who live very far away. At your request, these agents will happily provide you with a written good-faith estimate (GFE) of what we believe the charges might be in advance. This is usually not necessary in very simple cases (i.e., a simple serve to a business in a $69.99 city). They can usually just discuss the cost of service with you over the phone. However, our amazing process servers will happily give every client a good faith estimate in writing, if requested! Please note that final bills are often given in estimated time/cost amounts, and GFEs can potentially vary from the final bill.

Dangerous/Mentally Unstable Client Fee Assessment
If a process server, private investigator or other staff members believe that someone she, he or they is/are going to serve is particularly dangerous (i.e., has a violent criminal record, is mentally unstable, etc.), that they may opt to have an armed private investigator, an armed security guard service, or other licensed bodyguard services accompany them.
This is for the safety of every official and our company takes safety very seriously. The additional fees associated with having an extra person on the case are reasonable for her/his/their profession and depend on the severity of the client’s violent past, distance from our location, number of attempts to serve the individual, the amount of time involved, etc. They will secure your approval before proceeding.
They also reserve the right to assess a dangerous/mentally unstable fee on any person we go to serve who becomes dangerous, etc. If you as the client or attorney of the client know in advance that the person is or has a proclivity for violence and do not tell them of ours about this beforehand, the fee will be substantially higher than usual. This is especially true, if one gets hurt.
If they must stay overnight in a hotel/motel to attempt to provide service, they will charge reasonable fees to pay for the hotel/motel lodging. They are not talking about five-star hotels; rather, they will strive to find something very cost-efficient yet clean and safe. Those working for our company do not charge for time spent sleeping in the hotel/motel.
Sometimes it becomes necessary for them to consult with other legal professionals of all kinds. A skilled individual will charge $89.25 per hour with a debit or credit card or $85 per hour with cash, a check, or money order for this service. Sometimes the specialists may consult with may charge a fee, too.
At other times, they may have to provide individuals who might not otherwise help us locate hard-to-find individuals with money, goods, etc., in exchange for their assistance. This is often done when the assistance they provide to one exposes them to more substantial risk, requires them to perform tasks they would not otherwise do, and/or provide legally obtainable information they might not otherwise wish to share with our process servers.
